Have you ever wondered what happens to an idea or thought that you let slip away? I have.

I believe that thoughts, like energy, can never be lost—though their pure form can vanish once we let them go. You can try to recapture them, but they won’t be exactly the same. The spark that made them worth your attention is gone, drifting on for someone else to catch and carry forward.

I once woke in the middle of the night with what felt like the answers to the Universe. In that moment, everything seemed so clear. I thought, I’ll write it down in the morning. Needless to say, by morning it was gone.

Had I kept a journal by my bed, I could have captured those thoughts in their raw form. Reading them later, they might not have made sense—but at least I’d have had something to work with.

Journaling isn’t about finding the answers to the Universe. It’s about honoring those fleeting sparks that might hold the answers to the questions that matter in your life.

Thoughts are inspiration—the building blocks of ideas.

Journaling is how we honor them, catching those sparks before they fade, giving them a chance to become something more. It’s like using a net to catch a butterfly. You don’t keep the butterfly—but you get to see it up close, something you’d never have experienced if you hadn’t reached for it.

Have you ever lost the spark of an idea and wished you’d written it down? Even a scribble in the margins can save a thought from vanishing. I’d love to hear how you capture your butterflies.
