A Mother’s Day Memorial

a poem by Brenda Wilkins

I never thought I’d see the day,

When you would be so far away.

I know, at times I wasn’t kind,

But Mom you’re always on my mind.

Memories of you I hold dear,

For in my heart, you’re still here.

Every time I close my eyes,

I see your face; I hear your sighs.

Your voice, it softly speaks to me,

Pointing out what I can’t see.

Sometimes I feel your presence close,

When I think of times we cherished most.

Since that day you had to go,

God’s blessed me to come to know,

When a mother’s love spans space and time,

“MOTHER”, becomes a state of mind.
